Firs Estate Allotments

This is not a members reply. We don’t know how to contact you otherwise.
We have a large silver trophy bowl, named The Chadwick Bowl, given ‘FOR BEST 6 VASES OF FLOWERS’. Around the top of the rim, along with the above, in italics is The Firs Allotment Society. It was first won by John Potter in 1911 and then by A.E.Farmer in 1912 who went on to win it another 10 times until 1926. Quite remarkable. The last inscription is for G Male 1934. Could this bowl be from your organisation? It is a large bowl measuring 9 1/2″ diam by 6″ tall and made of silver plate. I would be happy to send you photos of it you think it might be part of your history.

That’s really interesting, its possible there is or was another allotment site in the UK called The Firs but then again just as likely that it refers to us.
