Open Day

Thanks to everyone who donated produce and plants to sell at our open day on 21st August. We had a really good turnout and raised 140 pounds for association funds.

Hedges

Plotholders should be aware that it is their responsibility to keep their hedges cut – both sides and top – some hedges that have not been cut are restricting access along the main paths. We no longer have the community payback team helping us with this. If you are unable to cut your hedge yourself then you should make arrangements for someone to do the work for you.

Thanks to everyone who turned up and supported our open day; we had a fairly good turnout considering the showery weather.

And a big thank you to all our members who donated produce and helped out on the stalls and the barbecue.

Derby In Bloom Allotment Competition

We had our best results ever taking first place in three out of the seven classes: Julia (plot 4) for Best Leisure Garden; Janet (plot 29) for Best Scarecrow and myself (plot 48) for Most Environmentally Friendly Plot. So congratulations to us I reckon!

Intruders

Sadly there have been a number of sheds broken into recently and some power tools stolen. The intruders have been spotted and the police called but so far they have not been caught. If your shed is broken into you need to contact the police to get a crime number – we cannot do this on your behalf although the secretary should be informed. It is also worth repeating that you should not keep power tools (strimmers etc) in your shed as past experience shows that these are the items that thieves are after. With the school holidays approaching it is up to all of us to be vigilant.

We raised 98 pounds for association funds with our stall at the Community Day on Stockbrook Street Park; thankyou to everyone who helped out and donated items to sell.

The judging for the Derby In Bloom allotments competition has now taken place. The judges were impressed with the standard of entries and the continued improvement of the site. Thanks to everyone who is helping to make this happen!
